Social Networking

Wanting to become a Social Diva and tell your friends where and what your doing? Guess again. I highly recommend before signing up or if your a current member read the Terms of Service (TOS). Once you begin posting and sharing with your friends, the whole World Wide Web (WWW) now has access to your information.

Once you begin posting these sites now own your information, images etc. You've lost all intellectual property rights, copyright and royalty protection, the site you thought you posted your content too can now use this in any manner they choose.

Sadly these companies who want you to share your information with them so they can make Millions of Millions of dollars off of you do absolutely nothing to protect you. That's Right - again read the TOS, they are constantly changing and your not being notified. Try reaching a human at one of these companies, go ahead it's a new decade. You can't and won't, better off hiring a lawyer to sift through the maze. Unfortunately these companies have teams of lawyers working for them and have usually got every angle covered, you just did not find the page with the information before you were exploited.

Privacy Settings, Just because you take the utmost precautions on these social sites to protect your privacy, forget it! Once you become a friend of someone's or a business, your information is now available to the WWW, yes in just two short days you can have the #1 ranking on Google, AOL, Yahoo, did you want that? I didn't think so. Do you have friends who want to send you a snowball, farm critter or mafia wars? Open up the BARN doors; You’d totally provide your personal information to yet another third-party application in trade for “free” coins to use in that virtual sharecrop you’ve got going over on Facebook? Do you really want a pig that bad? Facebook’s fantasy games cost more than time Games like ‘Families’ and ‘Pet Society’ serve up players on a silver platter. Read On

While there are indeed tools to limit the amount of information others can see about you on the Facebook site, the default settings allow anyone to view information about anyone in their extended network – in other words, details of friends of friends of friends. Even so, anyone logging in to their Facebook profile today will see preferences for news feeds and other events, which will broadcast more of yourself.

Welcome to the harsh and sickening reality of Identity theft.

Do you know that if not on a daily basis, than a weekly one, scams and infections are served up on My Space, Twitter and Facebook and photo sharing sites, all because you had to tell the world it's a beautiful day.

I want to thank you for your business of removing spyware and trojan horses from your computer, yet usually within one hour of you obtaining your PC back, your back to the same site that served you the infection(s). Due to privacy I will just say that two brand new computers I built for clients, with full AV protection not the one I sell, had in just 3 weeks digested 5 infections or more, 3 additional toolbars not initially installed just from My Space alone, upon showing these infections to the client their reply was "I don't know how it got there"? all giving up their personal information on the WWW

If you need to tell someone it's a beautiful day, it's snowing, there's a Robin in my yard, pick up the phone and call them or send them an e-mail. Remember how to write a letter, place it inside an envelope and mail it?
