BUYING A COMPUTER

These 5 questions are what you need to ask yourself.

I'm thinking about getting a new desktop computer now what?

What am I going to be using my computer for?

Where should I purchase my computer from?

Why should I purchase my new computer from them?

Should I wait a few months for the Chrome Operating System?

It's been my personal and professional experience to purchase computers from my local independent computer store or build them myself!

Why you ask.

As an Independent retail owner and operator they live in, pay taxes in, and support your local community. An independent store owner will take the time to listen to your needs and concerns and provide you the answers that address your concerns. They will explain what all the devices and abbreviations are and how they all work together.

Your independent store will sell you what you need and require, not up-sell. They will ensure your new computer system has all it's software and hardware updates, configure it for you, make sure it's all working properly and they'll invite you to test drive it before taking it home.

Your local independent store should be less expensive than the on-line or big box retailers. My local independent store you can purchase an Intel or AMD dual core processor, 160gb hard drive, 1gb RAM, DVD-R/W, 4-rear and 2 front usb ports, floppy drive or multi card reader, Microsoft® Windows Vista operating system for $549.00 plus tax, $659.00 plus tax for Microsoft® Windows 7.

You will receive the actual Microsoft® Windows Operating System, not a system restore cd or a partitioned hard drive with system restore. You will actually receive what your paying for! If your budget allows, or you opt for the Vista or Windows 7 operating system it's highly recommended to get more RAM. The above described system is "top of the line" and you have not yet heard about the features and benefits.

If you purchase from an on-line retailer they obtain their internal components from the lowest possible bidder, therefore you own cheap and inferior parts. If some of these inferior components fail you must obtain the replacements from the On-Line retailer you purchased your system from as these are proprietary, you cannot walk into any computer store, buy the part and expect it to work or fit inside your computer. These proprietary replacements are usually refurbished and come with a 30 day warranty, then you'll incur additional shipping and handling charges.

The MOTHERBOARD has a LIFETIME or a minimum of 3 year warranty, and is expandable to handle several internal hard drives and up to 16gb of RAM.

Upon arriving home all you need to do is hook-up your devices: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, Printer etc and away you go. If you decide to purchase your new computer on-line or from a big box retailer, it's obsolete already. Be prepared to spend the first 24 hours after you bring it home to register your computer with Microsoft®, and the other software vendors, obtain it's software and hardware updates, obtain an anti-virus subscription, anti-virus updates, anti virus configuration and scan.

Benefits and Features

Now you require service or support for your computer or it's devices, who's there to help you?

Your local independent store! Not an (800) telephone number, sent to an operator in a far distant land who is limited in their English language, reading from a script, who's final answer is do a system restore.

On-Line retailers are now charging $100.00 or more for English speaking (U.S. Based?) technical support, check the fine print.

My local independent store offers a 3 year limited warranty on the computers they sell, at no additional charge. The Big Box or On-Line retailer can't say that. Your on-line and big box retailers don't really support your local community.

The Chrome Operating System.

I have just downloaded my copy of the Chrome beta Operating system, I will install and check it out over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

A Healthy Computer

Is up to date with all it's software updates, visit these links below for updates and to see how vulnerable your PC is. If you have no Anti-Virus program running I highly recommend you obtain AVG 9.0 free version.

If you do not run a anti virus program what's the use of running a personal computer.

Require AVG for multiple computers more than 3 (volume licensing) or servers contact us for details and pricing.
